Wine Region: California, USA

Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes

The Federalist Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon is a revolutionary wine created to honor Benjamin Franklin, whose campaign for colonial unity helped shape the Federalist Party. Our fruit-forward Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Syrah and Sangiovese. The result is a well structured wine that is perfect with any type of beef, lamb as well as hearty stews.

Wine Enthusiast 89 pts - A lavish oak component makes this full-bodied wine very aromatic smoke, black pepper, cardamom and also adds a spicy accent to the bold, ripe fruit flavors. The rich texture feels velvety in the mouth, and the spicy oak and potent fruit notes echo on the finish.

Cellar Tracker 88 pts -  Deep red hue, aromas of cassis and toast, dense rich blackcurrant and some liquorice, nice textures, cocoa and plums on the finish.

About the Winery

Through four generations, the Terlatos have brought the world’s finest wines to the American table as importers, marketers and vintners. Rather than focusing on a single grape or place, Tony Terlato and his family have assembled an all-star team of winemakers with the tools to create best-in-class wines from iconic appellations – to capture “magic in a glass,” as Tony says. These wines reflect the family’s highest values, and their vision of all that can be realized from soil, grape and commitment.
