A careful and selective work in the vineyard, the constant analysis during the ripening process, the manual harvest and the use of the sorting tables are at the basis of our flagship wine which is meant to age very long. Ageing part in French oak barriques and partly in medium capacity casks for a minium of 24 months. Before release the wine is bottle-aged for a minimum of 4 months.
James Suckling 93 points - Plenty of black cherry and berry character with hints of flowers. Medium to full body, soft and fresh tannins and a clean and delicious finish. Lovely now.
Robert Parker 90 pts -Fanti's 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is a fruit-driven expression that makes a fresh and simple presentation. The wine tastes younger than it actually is, thanks to those notes of vibrant cherry and creme de cassis. There is a candied element as well that resembles sweet watermelon or peach. It's hard to determine where the wine's aging trajectory will take it. If all the fresh fruit fades, it's not clear what will replace it. But the wine is sturdy and firm in texture, so it might just keep us guessing.
About the Winery
The FANTI estate, owned by the homonym family since the early ˜800, has always been a benchmark in the production of wine, extra-virgin olive oil and cereals in the area of Montalcino. In the early seventies Filippo Fanti, the current owner, took the lead of the family company and marked and important turning point.
