About the Winery

Formerly occupied by the Cistercian monks of Clairvaux, the seat of the house includes wonderful vaulted cellars of the twelfth century. Going back to a closer past, the genealogical tree of the Drappier Family nevertheless takes its roots in the 17th century, the birth of Rémy Drappier in 1604 who becomes like Nicolas Ruinart, cloth merchant in Reims. His grandson, Nicolas (1669-1724) is prosecutor of Louis XIV. It was not until 1808 that one of the ancestors of the house, François, moved to Urville and began to exploit a vineyard that now extends over 55 ha, not counting the contracts-associations in the Côte des Bar , the mountain of Reims and the Côte des Blancs.
