Wine Region: Rioja, Spain
Grapes: Tempranillo, Mazuelo
Tasting Notes
The wine shows an elegant range of aromas in which the strawberry and raspberry scents are enhanced with clove and nutmeg touches and hints of tea leaves, fine leather and graphite. In the palate, it is a deep, fresh and refined wine, with a long finish and velvety tannins. If there is something that stands out in this wine is above all, the perfect balance between all its components.
“The excellence of the 2010 vintage has resulted in a Castillo Ygay we believe will unforgettable” María Vargas, Enóloga.
About the Winery
Marques de Murrieta´s foundation is linked to the origins of the Rioja wines since Luciano Murrieta produced in 1852 the first Rioja wine and was also the first one to export his wines. Luciano, appointed Marquis by the King Amadeo of Savoy thanks to his work in Rioja, travelled to Bordeaux to learn the winemaking techniques that he introduced later in Spain. He established the concept of a chateau in the Ygay Estate where he built the emblematic Ygay Castle.
