A robe of a pale yellow gold, luminous, limpid and crystalline, agitated with thousands of bubbles. From the outset the nose announces a lot of openness, of expression around the fleshy and ripe yellow fruits, such as apricots, peaches or dried fruits (almond). From the onset, the mouth is fleshy, vinous and powerful. It shows a lovely development with a soft freshness combined.
Wine Spectator 92 -Â Refined and creamy, with delicate acidity that finds fine balance with the layers of poached apple and pear, lemon cake, ground ginger, smoke and almond cream flavors. Very elegant. Drink now through 2020. 28,000 cases made.
Wine Enthusiast 90 -Â Tense and crisp, this is a balanced food-friendly Champagne. It is dry, and its apple- and citrus-like acidity has rounded out with some bottle age. The acidity cuts right through to give the wine a great lift of freshness on the finish.
About the winery
Gossetâ€™s wines are characterised by their purity and expressiveness. Grapes come mainly from premier and grand cru vineyards surrounding Epernay and their winemaking style is characterised by minimal intervention, extended ageing and no malolactic fermentation. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the houseâ€™s focus.
Since 1993 Gosset has been owned by the Renaud Cointreau family who have sought to protect the quality and character of their wines. This has led them to keep production levels moderate and to respect the history of the house along with the integrity of the region and its vineyards.
