The Wine Front, Mike Bennie - "Cinsault and grenache from certified biodynamic vineyard in the Barossa Valley. My oh my hasn't Wayne Ahrens come to play with the avant garde set. Quite striking his recent releases, full of character. Great site that is fertile ground for many sourcing excellent fruit from the Barossa Valley. Pale, hazy pink colour. Hello! Strawberries and cream, faint though, sweet spice, marzipan notes, floral notes. This is attractive from the get go. Clear and fine in the palate, delicate red berry fruit flavours, touch of pomegranate juice to acidity, pure, silk-sheet-in-breeze texture to finish. Wow. So pretty, and good."
About the Winery

Smallfry wines is a partnership in business and life between Suzi Hilder and Wayne Ahrens. We are viticulturists bitten by the winemaking bug, the chance to turn our own fruit into wine is too good to pass up. That we are also foodies drives our winemaking down a certain path. Natural ferments, nil to minimal adjustment, old oak a soft hand in the cellar allows the vineyard to speak. The style is food friendly, Euro style, with a eye to balance and subtlety.
