Artist Collective 3.0 Distil At Benrinnes 22 YO 1996

Located at an altitude of 200 metres on the northern slope of the Ben Rinnes mountain, the Benrinnes distillery was completely rebuilt in 1955 before being modernised and automated in the autumn of 2012. From 1974 to 2007, the distillery’s spirit was distilled two and a half times. This very sober bottling aged 23 years has managed to preserve the energy of its youth.

And so it is with a brisk pace that it guides the taster through the twists and turns of a particularly bright and colourful palette of flavours and aromas which constantly gains height in order to showcase the inextricable connections uniting the three stages of the tasting.

The distinguished attack is a blend of ripe fruit (Mirabelle plum) and heady florals (iris). Allowed to breathe, its rustic character takes on more breadth (wildflower, cut hay). The nobly spiced (cardamom) aromatic palette precedes a juicy (wild peach), milky (coconut) and vanilla palate. Aromatic plants bring lots of freshness to the mid-palate. The silky start of the finish is oriental (turkish delight) and spicy (turmeric). The very end of the palate is herbaceous.

Distillery Profile:
In the same way, each of the single malts found in our new Artist Collective range draws the richness of their olfactory and gustatory palettes from the marriage of various casks. Devoted to diversity, every region and every style of Scottish single malt, peated and unpeated, are represented.

Within this range we also find 43%, 48%, 57.1% (100 proof) and cask-strength bottlings. To illustrate the labels of the seven bottlings in our second collection, La Maison du Whisky has called on contemporary artists from very different backgrounds. Each of them brings their own very personal touch that echoes the richness of the single malts selected!
