Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Réserve de La Comtesse 2014

$107.00

The 2014 Reserve de Comtesse de Lalande has a very fresh and vibrant bouquet with lovely cedar-infused black fruit that sings of Pauillac-ness (apologies for the made-up word!). The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and elegant with a keen line of acidity. This feels quite linear at the moment and perhaps the finish could have dealt more complexity commensurate with the aromatics. Yet there is bundles of freshness infused into this Deuxičme Vin and there is a palpable salinity on the aftertaste.–Wine Advocate-Parker

Winery Profile:
The famous Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, “Pichon-Lalande” as it is referred to colloquially, comes from the same domain as “Pichon Baron.” Beyond their geographical proximity, they are distinguished by their strong personality. Pichon-Lalande has a soft, fleshy and tender character that can sometimes make it seem to be a more feminine wine. Straddling the Saint-Julien river, Pichon-Lalande vineyards are planted with 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot. Now owned by Champagne house Louis Roederer, Pichon-Lalande remains a noble and prestigious Second Growth.
