Run by husband and wife winemaking team, Frewin Ries and Candice Helbig, CRFT was recently listed as one of James Halliday’s Top 10 New Wineries in his recent 2016 Wine Companion. Candice used to make wines at Mollydooker, which explains her passion for Shiraz. Frewin made his first vintage at Cloudy Bay, then Pinot Noir in the famous Williams Selyem Winery in California. Both travelled to Austria, where they fell in love with Grüner Veltliner.
Unfined and crafted with minimal additives, all CRFT wines are vegan. CRFT Wines express the place where it started and the uniqueness that comes from individual sites. Each wine is made from grapes picked from a single vineyard and every bottle becomes an honest reflection of that one specific location, an untarnished sample of soil and season. The winemaking philosophy is simple: preserve what the vineyard grew and create balance and harmony, leaving a minimal winemaking footprint.
