De Grendel Amandelboord Pinotage 2020

$67.00

The Amandelboord Pinotage presents a beautiful intense, deep purple colour with a magenta meniscus. Maraschino cherries, black plums, prunes and banana-flavoured Wilson toffee aromas are depicted on the nose, followed by medium acidity and medium alcohol. The palate presents young tannins that will soften with age and aeration. A slight toastiness is detected on the mid-palate followed by sweet, stewed prunes.

Winery Profile:
The Graaff family have played a defining role in the South African political, social and business landscape for over three generations.

From his humble origins as a young farm boy, the vision and foresight of First Baronet Sir David Pieter de Villiers Graaff established the foundations of a family legacy that is carried forward by his great grandson Fourth Baronet Sir De Villiers Graaff. The historic farm De Grendel, with its sweeping views across Table Bay towards Table Mountain, is home to a family lineage that continues from generation to generation.

The farm is situated within a pristine natural vegetation area known as ‘Renosterveld’ and the conservation thereof is a passion of the family. Home to rare and endangered floral species, this delicate ecosystem has been preserved for future generations. The diversity of the farming activities on De Grendel further enhances their philosophy of sustainable agricultural practices to support their long term vision for the Graaff family legacy in the landscape.

De Grendel is a proud member of the WWF’s Biodiversity and Wine Initiative, a pioneering partnership between the country’s wine industry and conservation sector. The initiative strives to protect the natural habitat, encourages wine producers to farm sustainably and to express the advantages of the Cape’s abundant diversity in their wines. Over 140 000 hectares of natural area have been conserved by BWI producers since project inception.
