Schloss Gobelsburg Grub Kamptal Reserve 2013

From the basin between Heiligenstein and Gaisberg the 2013 Grüner Veltliner Grub displays fresh and subtle aromas of ripe peach, citrus, loess, iron and legumes. On the palate there is an impressive mix of ripe and intense fruit, a stimulating transparency and piquancy and a salinity that goes through until the long and persistent, mineral finish. Fermented and aged in traditional large 2,500-liter barrels, this is a full-bodied, complex and very elegant wine of great expression and charm.

Winery Profile:
Winemaking at the castle dates back several centuries. The oldest archaeological record finds the Gobelsburg’s site dates back some 4,000 years, and a castle of this name is mentioned in 1178. The castle and grounds were sold to the Cistercian monks of Zwettl Abbey in 1740 and have been in its possession ever since. In 1996, the present managers, Michael Moosbrugger and Willi Bründlmayer, took over the management of the property. The winery and the wines have won numerous awards and accolades.
