Seppeltsfield 1998 Para 21 Years Old Tawny

Colour: Medium amber with golden and red hues.

Aroma: Lifted blend of freshly baked almond and biscotti with a hint of hazelnut liqueur.

Palate: A medium weighted elegant wine with stylish brandy spirit and the creaminess of creme brulee, coupled with lightly toasted almonds.

Style: Tawny styles refer to fortified wines that have been blended using red grape varietals, which in the Barossa, typically include Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre. Often, Tawny styles are carefully blended from a range of vintage years to achieve a consistent style and minimum age. The 21 year old Para Tawny however stands alone as a single vintage wine, whereby the most select parcels of 1999 vintage wine are drawn from barrel and bottled as a special celebratory release. Its style therefore has the added complexity of being a reflection of the growing conditions during a singular season.

Winery Profile:
The Seppeltsfield Centennial Collection is believed to be the world’s only unbroken lineage of single vintage wines spanning more than 130 consecutive vintages. The story of the Centennial Collection began in 1878 when Benno Seppelt decided to lay down “a puncheon of my finest port to be untouched for 100 years.”” The tradition of laying down a barrel of the finest wine from each vintage was continued every year following and continues to do so today. The Centennial Cellar now comprises an unbroken lineage of every vintage from the current year back to 1878.”
