The Macallan No. 5 Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Inspired by The Macallan’s natural colour spectrum and the intricate whisky making process, the illustrious colour consultancy has created a specific colour reflective of this single malt – a uniquely bold shade of purple. The colour purple is described as the ‘most enigmatic of shades’ due to the multi-faceted and intricate combination of red and blue. The special purple shade create for The Macallan Edition No.5 is a celebration of the whisky making process, complex and precise as the whisky maker carefully and masterfully selects casks to craft this spirit. This unique colour celebrates the infinite hues, creativity and expertise which hamesses the natural colour of The Macallan.

Only American oak casks were selected to craft Edition No.5. The casks were primarily handpicked for their colour in order to deliver a whisky with a wonderfully full flavour. The result is a spirit with beautiful pale amber colour, accompanied by an intriguingly intense flavour profile that hosts sweet notes of caramel and fresh fruit combined with oak spices.

Every year, a selection of oak casks will be identified from all the casks maturing at The Macallan Distillery to produce a new Edition.

Edition No.5 is a celebration of The Macallan’s spectrum of natural colour which has inspired the world-renowned Pantone Color Institute to create a unique and exquisitely complex shade of purple, which has been featured on the packaging design of this release.

Crafted from 100% American oak casks, bottled at 48.5% ABV.

Distillery Profile:
An obsession with quality has been the hallmark of The Macallan since its founding by Alexander Reid on a plateau above the river Spey in north-east Scotland. The distillery is surrounded by a 485 acre estate with Easter Elchies House at its heart.

The Macallan was one of the first distillers in Scotland to be legally licensed. Since then we have built a reputation as one of the world’s leading single malt whiskies. The creation of The Macallan draws on the vital contributing influences of Spain, North America and Scotland – and of their respective natural raw materials, combined with traditional methods and craftsmanship.
