Wine Region: Chianti, Tuscany, Italy

Grape: Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes

Intense ruby red color. Complex aromas of iris and violets, red fruit and balsamic scents. Soft, elegant and well-smoothed tannins in the mouth. A true expression of the territory with well-balanced acidity and mineral tannins, before finishing long.

Wine Enthusiast 90 pts - Aromas of black-skinned berry, mint and cooking spice abound on this 90% Sangiovese and 10% Colorino blend. The mediumbodied, juicy palate offers ripe black cherry, crushed raspberry, licorice and clove alongside polished tannins. Enjoy through 2022.

James Suckling 91 ptsA ripe and juicy wine with plum and dried cherry character. Hints of lemon rind. Medium body, delicate tannins and a fruity finish. Drink now.

Wine Spectator 90 pts - An elegant, vibrant red, this exhibits floral, cherry and strawberry flavors that mesh nicely with the harmonious profile. The fine length echoes the fruit. Drink now through 2024.

Vinous 90 pts - The 2015 Chianti Classico Brolio is a very pretty, gracious wine with lovely fruit purity and terrific balance. Sweet raspberry and floral notes give the wine freshness and aromatic lift. Soft, open-knit and silky, the 2015 has much to offer. I would prefer to drink it sooner rather later. Dollops of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon complement the Sangiovese nicely.

About the Winery

Ricasoli is the most representative wine producer in the Chianti Classico area. With its gentle hills, velvety valleys and thick woodlands of oaks and chestnuts, the 1,200 hectares of property include 235 hectares of vineyards and 26 of olive groves. The new wines are the expression of research carried out with the same scientific rigor of his illustrious ancestor but with a contemporary spirit, like a runner receiving the baton and carrying it forward with renewed energy.
