Wine region: Adelaide Hills, Australia
Grape: Pinot Gris
Ovum is always a lovely, lolling, sensory ride – not dissimilar in shape and texture to the glossy, egg-shaped fermenter that gave us her name. Ovum 2018 reminds us of the full aromatic experience of tiny wild strawberries and their broad, dark-green leaves in summer. The palate is lush, long and blossomed with a complexing grapefruit pith at its center – gentle bitter hints and foamy softness. Finely structured and positively on point for pinot gris – another pleasing example of an ideal vintage.
100% Lenswood Pinot Gris, pressed direct to tank, full solids, 100% fermentation in concrete ‘egg’ for nine months.
About the Winery
BK Wines was established in 2007 by Brendon and Kirstyn Keys. The goal has been to create fabulous art. Beautiful, unique, sensuous, deceptively minimalist, envelope-pushing art. After learning from masters in NZ, Argentina and California, we trained our sites on the Adelaide Hills because it's just a cracking great place to live and make wine. With no pretentions to be somewhere it's not and few preconceived notions about what wine styles to expect, this is a place where non-conformity is the rule. Our little winery is situated in the Hills where it is tucked away surrounded by bush land.
