CHATEAU BARDE HAUT 2011 GRAND CRU Magnum

Wine Region: Saint-Emilion, France

Grape: Merlot, Cabernet Franc

Tasting Notes

In an intense and attractive color, the wine is fleshy and powerful with a beautiful aromatic palette marked by black fruits. Very structured but supple, fresh and tasty, it shows a good length. Wine traditionally of quality, it has progressed a lot with its new owners to reach the level of great classified growths of the appellation.

About the Winery

Located in St Christophe des Bardes in the east of the St Emilion appellation, in the extension of Trottevieille and Troplong-Mondot, the estate was bought in 2000 by Sylviane Garcin Cathiard, owner since 1991 of Château Haut-Bergey in Léognan and sister of Daniel Cathiard, owner of Smith Haut-Lafitte. It is now Hélène Garcin Cathiard, the owner's daughter, and her husband Patrice Lévêque who manage Barde-Haut and the very popular Garcin Cathiard vineyards (Haut-Bergey, Clos L'Eglise and Branon) with the very enlightened support of Dr. Alain Raynaud, consulting oenologist.
