DELILLE CELLARS FOUR FLAG 2016 - Straits Wine

DELILLE CELLARS FOUR FLAG 2016

Wine Region : Columbia Valley, Washington Estate, USA

Grapes : Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting notes :

The fruit aromas of the 2016 Four Flags are fresh and focused, with blueberry, red currant and pomegranate mingling with barrel notes of cocoa nibs and wood smoke. Sourced solely from Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine beautifully showcases the typicity of the AVA, with inviting notes of cedar, lavender and bay leaf. The palate offers generous flavors, with chocolate covered cherries and tapenade carried by fresh acidity. Ample, fine-grained tannins carry the flavors through a lengthy finish, promising many years of graceful aging.

About the winery :

Since the foundation of the estate in 1992, DeLille Cellars has predominantly focused on Bordeaux varieties grown on nine different vineyards spanning the Yakima Valley and Red Mountains  AVAs: Harrison Hill, Grand Ciel, Klipsun, Boushey, Ciel du Cheval, Red Willow, Upchurch and Stillwater Creek.

DeLille Cellars has held the rights to Harrison Hill vineyard since 1994, which is today part of the Snipes Mountains AVA. Snipes Mountain is known for its unique topography, high elevations and soils that differentiate it from the rest of the Yakima Valley AVA. The Harrison Hill vineyard was first planted to Cabernet Sauvignon in 1962 and features the second oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the state of Washington.
