Wine Region: Puente Alto, Alto Maipo Valley, Chile
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep cherry red in color. Don Melchor 2017 is a wine with extraordinary elegance. Full of aromas and flavors and a marked presence of red berries. On the palate, ther are strong notes of Cabernet Sauvignon from Puente Alto, with fine and delicate tannins, while also providing a good density and long-lasting finish.
"Fantastic aromas of blackcurrants and other dark fruit with crushed stone, iron and oysters, following through to a full body that shows incredible energy and depth, offering ripe yet fresh fruit, together with bright herbs and earth. Precision and balance of the intensity of the vintage. Layered. Perhaps the greatest Don Melchor ever made" - James Suckling 99 Points
About the Winery
The history of Chilean wine dates to the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century, but the industry underwent a French revolution of sorts in the 19th century with the arrival of new grape varieties and vinification techniques.
Mr. Melchor Concha y Toro was at the vanguard of that movement and brought noble French varieties from Bordeaux. He planted those vines in the Maipo Valley in 1883 and laid the foundations of what is now
