Wine Region: Puente Alto, Alto Maipo Valley, Chile
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
2018 is one of the greatest vintages in the history of Don Melchor. A highly expressive wine, with great personality and complexity. The wine shows lots of expression and complexity of small red fruits, as well as floral notes displayed as a whole. On the palate, the wine is full of flavor and dominated by elegance and balance, as well as a great texture of the tannins, with a long, refined finish.
"The vitality and energy of this wine are dazzling—impressive complexity, flowers, blackcurrants, raspberries, and peaches. Full-bodied, though refined and polished with flawless texture and splendor. Delightful length. This great red is a tribute to balance, harmony, and finesse." - James Suckling 100 Points (2018)
About the Winery
The history of Chilean wine dates to the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century, but the industry underwent a French revolution of sorts in the 19th century with the arrival of new grape varieties and vinification techniques.
Mr. Melchor Concha y Toro was at the vanguard of that movement and brought noble French varieties from Bordeaux. He planted those vines in the Maipo Valley in 1883 and laid the foundations of what is now
