Wine Region: Tarragona, Spain

Grape: Merlot, Carinena, Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes

The 2008 Idus sourced from some of the estate’s older vines is made up of Carinena, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance Syrah and Garnacha aged in a mix of first and second year 225 and 300-liter French oak for 14 months. It displays a glass-coating opaque purple color along with an enticing nose of balsam wood, tar, licorice, espresso, and assorted black fruits.

About the Winery

"Celler Vall Llach was founded in the early 90s by Enric Costa and Lluís Llach, in Porrera, one of the nine towns that make up the DOC Priorat in the south of Catalonia.
The winery’s first vintage was in 1998 and it reached the market at the end of 2000.
The demanding standards we impose on all the winery’s activity and processes are: rigour, quality and the importance of the countryside."
