Wine Region: Niederosterreich, Austria

Grape: Gruner Veltiner

Tasting Notes

"Fruchtig" as they say in Austria: fruit complexity to the max with a touch of residual sugar to give Forbidden Gruner its beautiful balance with fresh, juicy grape characters and subtle tropical notes. A little on the sweet side with a touch of fizz, Forbidden is good!

"A Gruner style our fathers used to know. Rediscovered by LAURENZ V. after decades of "mania of dry wines" in Austria. Its light residual sugar and less than 11% vol. make this Gruner so quaffable and delicious. Paradisiac fruit, seductive, forbidden good."

About the Winery

Laurenz V is made by the Lenz Moser family, and is the most recent offering in the family's five generations of wine making experience. The wine comes from the Kamptal and Kremstal areas of lower Austria where the warmth of the Danube Valley meets the cool air of the Waldviertel region. This combination develops fresh, fruity flavors in grapes while maintaining excellent acidity. The winery makes two wines Laurenz V. Charming Gruner Veltliner from Kamptal, and Laurenz und Sophie Singing Gruner Veltliner, a wine inspired by Lenz' daughter Sophie, predominantly from Kremstal.
