Big bright red berry fruit and floral flavours on the nose. On the palate this wine has
instant appeal with red cherry, some gamey notes, soft tannins and subtle oak that
provide a silky round palate that is immediately appealing.
The grapes were harvested directly into open top fermenters, where they underway a
cold maceration before fermentation was allowed to start spontaneously. Because of the
small size of the berries hand-plunging was limited to twice per day throughout the
fermentation. The fermented juice was left on skins for seven days post ferment before
pressing to predominantly older French oak barriques (only 3% were new). The wine was
blended after ten months maturation in barrel.
