Tasting Notes

A lively fruit spectrum of lemon, lime curd, guava and quince meet with heightened floral notes, complexing thyme and sweet spice. A tight, yet finely textured and layered palate, bright lemon and lime dominate throughout with hints of white nectarine. A tight line of natural acidity gives definition and is complementary to the length of concentrated fruit.

James Suckling 93 pts - "This is a dense sauvignon with lime, green mango, and stone Fully body, layered and rich. Fresh and savory. 34% barrel fermented in used wood. Screw cap."

James Halliday 92 pts - "The bouquet smells floral and inviting from the outset. The palate though, despite its intensity, creeps along at first, its inherent reserve slowly giving way to intense gravel, lemongrass and tropical fruit flavour. Spend time with this wine and you end up nodding your head and tapping the side of your nose, as if acknowledging the wise heads involved."

About the Winery

Family owned, Leeuwin Estate, one of the five founding wineries of the now famous Margaret River district of Western Australia, is under the direction of two generations who work with a team of highly skilled winemakers to consistently produce wines ranking alongside the world's finest. In 1972, legendary Napa Valley winemaker, Robert Mondavi, identified the future site of the Leeuwin vineyard as being ideal for the production of premium wine and provided early mentorship to Denis and Tricia Horgan in the transformation of their cattle farm into Leeuwin Estate.
