The initial red fruit colours have now faded away to be replaced by a rich dark brown hue with wonderful green and yellow hints around the edges, characteristic of very old wood-aged Ports. Yet the wine still retains a wonderful freshness and balance.

Quinta Do Noval is in Porto what the Romanée Conti is in Burgundy: a Myth. A splendid terroir steep; the best grape varieties are planted, adapted sector by sector, to obtain the quintessence of this terraced vineyard. This vineyard is located in Pinhao, 130 km from Porto, in the hinterland, one of the most favorable areas of the Douro Valley. The grape varieties are numerous: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cao, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Francisca, Sousao.
