WOODLANDS MARGARET CABERNET MERLOT MALBEC 2016

Wine Region: Australia

Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec.

Tasting Note

This wine is intense deep garnet in colour. The palate reveals a wine of subtle power, showing an array of dark fruits, cacao bean, orange zest, star anise, and hints of black pepper. The palate is driven, beautifully layered and finishes with bright energetic acidity. Completely charming and refined, our 2016 Margaret will be in its prime between 2024-2030.

Ratings

Robert Parker 91 Pts - A smooth, fine-textured red. Medium to full-bodied, it's less concentrated and robust than the Clementine, but it's nicely aromatic and supple, with a long, elegant finish.

James Halliday 96 Pts - Founders David Watson and wife Heather had spectacular success with the Cabernets he made in 1979 and the early '80s...With the advent of sons Stuart and Andrew (Stuart primarily responsible for winemaking), the estate has bounced back to pre-eminence. ....The top-end wines primarily come from the original Woodlands vineyard, where the vines are over 45 years old.

Gold Decanter 96 Pts - 2016 was an excellent vintage in Margaret River and Woodlands Cabernet Merlot 2016 showcases this perfectly through it's bright varietals characters of dark berries and spice. A fun and lively wine, with depth and substance to satisfy any cabernet lover. A versatile wine, which can be enjoyed with a huge range of dishes, making it a welcome addition to any table.
