Yarra Yering winery has been producing excellent wines since Dr Bailey Carrodus (earning the title of Doctor from his Doctor of Philosophy for research into plant physiology) rolled out his first vintages of Dry Red Wine No. 1 and Dry Red Wine No. 2  in 1973.

But now the one carrying the torch that the iconic legacy Dr Carrodus started is Head Winemaker, Sarah Crowe. Earning stunning praise from the world's top wine critics, Sarah has proven to be worthy of continuing the tradition of making some of the best wines in Australia.

In fact, with the wines made in her first vintage at Yarra Yering, she has received one of the wine industry’s highest honours.

James Halliday named Sarah ‘Winemaker of the Year’ for 2017 at the QANTAS epiQure Halliday Wine Companion Awards in Melbourne on 3 August, making Sarah the first woman to receive this award.

Halliday said, “She has done a fabulous job with what was her first full vintage. Just an amazing, amazing job.
