Chateau Caronne Saint Gemme

Château Caronne Ste Gemme is one of the older Bordeaux estates located in Haut-Médoc, whose history can be traced back to the mid 1600s. The estate's name derives from a water source in the commune called "Carona", which originates from the Gallic "little spring", and "Sainte-Gemme", the linguistic evolution of Saint-Jaime.

The vineyard covers a single 45 hectare plot. The estate takes pride in its deep gravel mounds which lie on a subsoil of iron rich sandstone to the east and clay to the west. Plantings are divided into 60 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 37 % Merlot and 3 per%cent Petit Verdot, with the average age of these vines totalling 25 years old. These proportions are mirrored in the makeup of the grand vin.
